Enthusiasts raved when the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat hit the road with all 707 hp under the hood. That power-packed model drove the muscle car industry to new heights as competitors struggled to keep up. Now, Dodge has come up with something even more powerful than the Challenger SRT Hellcat. Meet the 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon.
The 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon ups the ante once more. The muscle car on steroids essentially stole the New York Auto Show and brought some firsts to the industry.
Starting at a whopping $84,995 MSRP, the Challenger SRT Demon boasts a blazing 9.65-second quarter-mile time. To put that in perspective, the steroid-fueled muscle car also runs from 0-to-60 mph in just 2.3 seconds.*
The powertrain is a retuned, refined, and transformed version of the Hellcat’s 6.2-liter supercharged V8 that churned out 707 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque. A new block, crankshaft, and pistons were in the works, as was a chiller box to reduce the temperature by 18 degrees and add more horsepower.
The end result is a massive 6.2-liter supercharged V8 engine that delivers a total output of 840 hp and 770 lb-ft of torque. The transmission requires locks and torque converter to keep the car in position at the drag strip starting line.
Two years of hard work finally paid off as the new 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon will officially tackle roadways. 3,300 units will roll off the lines at the Brampton, Ontario plant later this summer.
We at Cronic Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram are pumped to see the Challenger SRT Demon burn rubber!
