Whether you’re a teen who’s just gotten your license and are about to drive to school for the first time, or you’re a parent taking your kids to school, driving in that crazy early morning traffic can be treacherous. Here are some back-to-school driving tips to keep you from scraping another car or, worse, a person.
Rule number one: Obey school bus laws. Seriously, you don’t want to be responsible for hitting a little kid because you decided to zoom around a stopped bus. Buses are huge, and it’s hard to see around them, so just wait. It’ll move eventually. You should also be careful to observe reduced speed limits.
Be careful of distracted drivers, and don’t be one of them. This is good advice anywhere, but especially when you’re driving amongst a bunch of teenagers. Texting while driving is going to be a huge problem. When you’re in heavy school traffic, you have to pay very close attention to what people around you are doing.
Finally, If you’re carpooling and you’re the driver, you are responsible for making sure everyone is wearing a seatbelt, so don’t forget to do a belt check before you take off.
